Effective date: July 23, 2026
This policy describes how Mate in Five ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you play the game on the web at mateinfive.com or through our Android and iOS apps. The apps load the same website in an embedded browser view, so this policy applies equally to both.
If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at support@lismodev.com.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address, the display name on your Google account, and your Google account ID. You can change your in-app display name at any time; it is separate from your Google account name.
Gameplay data
When you're signed in, we store your puzzle activity tied to your account: which daily puzzles you've played, your solve time, number of attempts, hints used, words found, and completion state.
Before you sign in, this same activity is stored only in your browser's local storage on your device, not on our servers. If you later sign in, that locally stored progress is uploaded once and attached to your account.
Subscription information
If you purchase a "remove ads" subscription, our payments provider, RevenueCat, tells us your subscription status and expiration date so we can turn ads off for your account. We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play.
Automatically collected data
On the production website (mateinfive.com), we use a small number of third-party analytics and advertising tools that may collect your IP address, device/browser information, and usage patterns via cookies or similar technology:
- Google Analytics — usage and traffic analytics
- Microsoft Clarity — usage analytics, which may include session replay/heatmap data
- Meta Pixel — advertising analytics
Advertising
In the Android and iOS apps, we show interstitial ads via Google AdMob unless you have an active "remove ads" subscription. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data to select and measure ads, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Authenticate you and keep your puzzle progress in sync across devices
- Determine whether to show you ads or honor your ad-free subscription
- Understand aggregate usage of the game and diagnose problems
- Send you an occasional operational notification if relevant (e.g., account-related issues)
We do not sell your personal information.
3. What's Public
Nothing about your account, gameplay, or stats is shown publicly to other visitors. Your solve history and stats are private to your account.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
We use:
- A short-lived sign-in cookie and a longer-lived refresh cookie to keep you signed in
- Your browser's local storage to hold puzzle progress before you sign in, and to cache your sign-in token
- Cookies set by the analytics/advertising tools listed above, on the production website only
You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time; doing so will sign you out and remove locally saved (not-yet-synced) puzzle progress.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app:
- Google — Sign-In authentication, Analytics, and AdMob
- Microsoft — Clarity analytics
- Meta — Pixel analytics
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Our internal team tooling receives a notification (name/email) when a new account signs up, for operational awareness
Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policy. We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties, and we do not sell it.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at support@lismodev.com and we will delete it, except where we need to retain limited information for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Children's Privacy
Mate in Five is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (such as encrypted connections and signed authentication tokens) to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the effective date above when we do. Continued use of Mate in Five after a change means you accept the updated policy.
